Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, i.e. Central Institute of Hindi is an educational Institute established in 1960 by the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. It is run by an autonomous organization: Kendriya Hindi Shikshan Mandal. The Institute mainly conducts various projects and activities for Teaching, Training, Research and Promotion & Propagation of Hindi at National and International level. The headquarter of the Institute is situated at Agra. It has eight regional centers in Delhi (estd. 1970), Hyderabad (estd. 1976), Guwahati (estd: 1978), Shillong (estd. 1987), Myssore (estd. 1988), Dimapur (estd. 2003), Bhuvaneswar (estd. 2003) and Ahmedabad (estd. 2006)



Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, i.e.: Central Institute of Hindi was established in 1960. Since then, the Institute keeps on extending its activities for the academic prograss, multidimensional research and promotion & propagation of Hindi in accordance to the aims and objectives as determined by its parent organization, i.e.: Kendriya Hindi Shikshan Mandal. It is a journey that completes more than five decades having a number of milestones. A brief eye view on the same is represented point to point here in this section.




• To propose and conduct various programs and activities for development of Hindi as envisaged in Article 351 of the Constitution of India.

• Bring forward the spirit of Hindi as the vital link of national integration in the backdrop of its innate character of co-operative & composite coherence in the multilingual and multicultural republic of India.

• Promotion and propagation of Hindi in India and abroad.


The core mission of Kendriya Hindi Shikshan Mandal, i.e.: KHSM is to instigate the development of Hindi as a Pan Indian Language and make it widely acceptable and popular at international level. In this regard, KHSM puts together different ventures to prepare, organize and implement such type of programs which would help to attain this broad mission. These can be summarized as hereunder:

• Hindi Teachers Training courses for students/in-service teachers of Non-Hindi States.

• Orientation/Refresher and Extension programs for Hindi Teachers of Non-Hindi States.

• Research and Development, production of Teaching/Learning Material for Hindi as a Second and Foreign Language.

• Propagation of Hindi in abroad through International Hindi Teaching-Training Program.

• Expansion of Hindi through Seminar, Conference, Workshops, All India Level Competitions etc.

• Technological Innovation and Updation of Hindi Teaching and Training Methodologies and Material Production.

• Awarding the Eminent Scholars of Hindi in different subject fields worldwide.

• Academic Publication of various Books, Journals, Magazines, Dictionaries, Research materials etc.
